Job Summary

The Office of Medical Student Education at the University of Michigan Medical School seeks an accomplished administrator to serve as the Curriculum Coordinator. In collaboration with the unit Trunk Administrator, the Director of Curriculum and Compliance, and the rest of the curriculum administration team, this position will help manage the day-to-day operations of documenting the medical student curriculum. This includes being knowledgeable about details of curriculum activities, documenting them in the Ilios curriculum database system, providing administrative support to curricular review meetings, and working with the Canvas learning management system.   1. Serve as the curriculum database manager. This shall include but is not limited to:

  2. Serving as the product owner and expert for the Ilios curriculum database, working with the Health Information Technology and Services team in medical education.

  3. Documenting learning and assessment activities throughout the Scientific Trunk, Clinical Trunk, and Branches, including tagging activities to content areas and institutional objectives.

  4. Assist in curriculum improvements by Ilios reporting to provide curriculum committees with report on specific topic content areas.

  5. Support the medical school’s funds flow model by reporting teaching effort data, in collaboration with the medical school finance office.

  6. Work with curriculum administrators from across the curriculum to maintain integrity of data.

  7. Create and manage process for continual maintenance of curriculum data.

  8. Create yearly upload to the AAMC curriculum inventory.

  9. Working closely with faculty and Trunk administrator, provide administrative support to the longitudinal Optimizing Patient Care Curriculum Thread. Duties include providing support for specific educational sessions and managing visibility of the thread to students.

  10. Provide support for Scientific Trunk course review process, including assembling material for review, scheduling meetings, documenting and following up on action items, and preparing materials for curriculum committee discussion.

  11. Using curriculum database information, provide reports and analysis on curriculum content-related LCME standards. Work with curriculum administrators and faculty to collect information to prepare reports for review at curriculum committees and prepare for LCME accreditation in 2019-2020.

  12. Partner with HITS to create and maintain structure of Canvas sites for medical school cohorts.

  13. Work closely with the Scientific Trunk team to manage day-to-day curriculum operations as needed.

Desired Qualifications*

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. Prior administrative, program, and/or technical experience.

  3. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

  4. Excellent planning and organizational skills.

  5. Proven ability to work independently and deliver on-time results.

  6. Proven ability to problem solve, analyze complex information, understand and improve upon complex processes.

  7. Candidates with substantive experience in the health professions, curriculum mapping, or database management preferred.
