An experienced Medical Assistant that has shown the ability to function at a high level and understand the coordination it takes to perform this role. Functions as a Medical Assistant when the need arises to help the clinic. Can only get to this level if there is a need in the clinic.
Review of registry data.
Identify improvement opportunities in preventive care and chronic disease care (e.g. diabetes, asthma, CVD and CHF).
Work provider’s registry or exception report to resolve gaps in care (e.g. lack of follow-up, missing tests, missing action plans, missing immunizations).
Contact patients and arrange appropriate testing, referrals or follow-up; document if test completed elsewhere or declines, (e.g. eye exam).
Schedule appointments, complete lab orders, consult requests, or providing the patient with an appointment when needed.
Enter CPT codes into scheduling system to permit business team’s identification of patient financial liability.
Develop, along with lead or supervisor and scheduler colleagues, standard work.
Continue to function as a Medical Assistant to fulfill the needs of the clinic.
High School Diploma or GED.
Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and 3-4 years of experience.
Experience in panel management including provider registry data and exception reports.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting.
Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
Certification as a Medical Assistant.
Experience working within a large, complex health care setting.
Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
