St. Elizabeth Hospital is opening a brand new medical oncology facility in February 2016! We are looking for a credentials/certified Cancer Registrar (CTR) who can work in the Appleton and Oshkosh, WI area, but will have the opportunity to work telecommute at times. Summary: The Cancer Registrar collects, enters, analyzes, reports and follows current and retrospective patients who meet the inclusion criteria for the Cancer registry. Provides support to internal clinicians, researchers and accrediting bodies to benchmark and evaluate compliance with evidence-based quality metrics. Creates reports to accurately portray organizational volumes and evaluate performance. Acts as a liaison between hospital facilities, external accrediting agencies, physicians, state department of health and human services, data vendors and technical support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Performs review of complex clinical records to secure data for inclusion into the longitudinal registries for cancer patients using appropriate classification systems and computer software, within the time frames required. • Collaborates with other staff members and physicians to develop, test and implement effective data collection to provide information on clinically significant measures and indicators to include obtaining data from private physician offices, outside health care facilities, and patients. • Completes the process for timely submission of data at appropriate intervals to the various state and national databases as required for compliance and accreditation standards. • Performs interoperability and reliability testing and utilizes various data quality monitoring techniques to reconcile and validate information according to registry and internal data quality standards and data dictionaries. • Creates, organizes and analyzes data reports, spreadsheets and presentation material using graphics and presentation software in a variety of systems to assist in financial and quality improvement activities throughout the system as needed. Qualifications: Hosptial experience as a Credentialed/Certified Cancer Registrar. Two years college level coursework in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and the ICD CM Classification System. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) through the National Cancer Registrars Association Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform this job are typically acquired through a minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in data collection that includes experiences in coding/abstracting and clinical documentation. Skills: • Knowledge of Health Information Administration, Informatics or Nursing, equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regionally accredited associate’s degree program. • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, computer applications and ability to follow detailed coding instructions with minimal supervision. • Understanding of basic statistical methods. • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
