We are currently looking for experienced Traffic Control professionals to become Traffic Control Project Leads -$14-16/hr.

Responsibilities

WHAT DOES A TRAFFIC CONTROL PROJECT LEAD DO?

  • Set up, maintain,a nd remove Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guiedlines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple, intermediate complexity, and complex work zones (i.e. detours, road closures, line crossings, special events)

  • Coordinate work activity amongst Senior Traffic Control Specialists and Traffic Control Specialists, including breaks and overall work zone operations

  • Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW paddle

  • Drives a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and employees to and from work sites safely and efficiently in a timely manner

  • Communicate effectively with employees on site with radios

  • Follow all Company safety procedures and practices, notifying their Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents

  • Assist in completing Accident/Injury investigations

  • Provides on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Traffic Control Specialists and Senior Traffic Control Specialists

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hat, eye protection, reflective vest, gloves and steel-toed boots.

  • High level of stamina to drive constant physical effort, including standing on cement and various surfaces for extended periods of time, possibly as much as 8-12 hours per day.

  • Sitting is NOT permitted in active work zones.

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and environments with exposure to dust, dirt, and loud noises.

Qualifications

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS TO BECOME A TRAFFIC CONTROL PROJECT LEAD?

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must have ATSSA Flagger Training & Certification, ATSSA Traffic Control Technician Training & Certification

  • Ability to read MOT plans

  • 1+ years experience and approved for towing of trailered assets

  • First Aid & CPR trained a plus

  • Provide and maintain valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving history

  • Negative drug test as well as acceptable criminal background check

  • Willingness to complete and successfully pass classroom training

  • Ability to recognize what a driver is going to do, how he/she will react to being stopped or slowed down, whether or not he/she intends to speed up in defiance of the flagger

  • Ability to calm rather than pour gasoline on frustrated drivers’ hot tempers

  • Flexible availability
