Current Need-Telecommunications Engineer
Exciting opportunity for an experienced innovative, customer focused individual to take their career to the next level! This role will require exposure to traditional voice, data, and IP Telephony technologies. Preferably Avaya. Expectation is for this individual is to have a solid background in unified communications and network routing/switching. Candidate will exhibit technical skills in areas of TCP/IP LAN, WAN, QOS, Routing/Switching as it relates to Telephony. This position offers an individual the ability to work across multiple Avaya products including Communications Manager, IQ reporting, Aura Messaging, AWFO, Experience Portal, Session Manager, System Manager, etc. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to collaborate well with customers, McKesson employees and business partners. Expectations are to provide remote and onsite support of Avaya Telephony system hardware & software, telephony network configurations, telephony network troubleshooting, telephony network topology designs and serve as an in house escalation point.
- 4+ years experience in telecommunications
Working knowledge and expertise with Avaya products (Aura Messaging, Session Manager, System Manager, AWFO, IQ, CMS, Application Enablement Services, One X Family, Experience Portal, Call Center Solutions, Communications Manager 6.3 or above,
Apply patches and firmware updates to telephony platforms as required
Understanding of networking technologies including TCP/IP, DHCP, Routing/Switching, & QOS
Analyze end-to-end TCP/IP protocol sniffer traces to identify network connectivity issues
Provide onsite and remote support for Avaya platform
Required to participate in on-call rotation with peers in order to meet 24X7 response requirements to support business needs
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Engineering/Telecommunications degree or 8+ years of experience providing diverse range of voice and data issues
Demonstrated knowledge in voice and network troubleshooting
Hands on troubleshooting and configuration of Avaya PBX’s, Voicemail Systems, Session Manager, System Manager, IQ/CMS, AWFO, G-450 Gateways and Experience Portal
Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies(routing/switching, BGP, OSPF Spanning Tree)
Solid understanding of customer Avaya implementations and maintenance practices and issues
Work in a high-energy environment
Excellent communications skills, self-motivated, ability to collaborate with multiple teams
Both reactive and proactive approaches when diagnosing and resolving customer related telephony issues
Transfer of knowledge to other team members via documentation and/or mentoring
- 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
