Section Manager (Power Delivery)
Functions as a technical specialist and leadership role working with the existing Bangkok Power Delivery office. Support the Manager of Engineering in the development, training, and supervision of the Power Delivery staff, by sharing engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches to engineering problems. Be able to manage and motivate a team of engineers and technicians. Understand contract commercial terms and project reporting requirements for assigned projects. Coordinate with other Power Delivery offices to establish project work and expectations. Support regional proposal efforts for local power delivery project execution in developing work plans, schedules, man-hour estimates and costing as requested by management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the Manager of Engineering and develops the existing staff in being self-supporting. Supports local recruiting efforts. Supports proposal teams as technical lead for preparation of regional proposals and execution plans.
Engineering Standards: Proactively provides guidance and direction on Power Delivery design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies. Provides technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
Quality / Continuous Improvement: Independently applies knowledge and ensures compliance with B&V quality program. Establishes related processes, and promotes a culture that is conducive to quality. Provides guidance and direction to others. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Engineering Production: Prepares a variety of engineering deliverables for multiple projects. Performs research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepares engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Develops and applies advanced engineering solutions to complex problems. Reviews engineering work or assignments. Is responsible to leaders for production teams; coordinate multiple discipline activity; and serve as the responsible charge for projects. Establishes work plan to be applied to a given project.
Project Coordination: Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on projects. Typically responsible for defining project schedules. Provides local training and development of basic work and engineering management techniques and skills.
Client Focus: Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on projects. Focuses on client's current needs and situations. Typically provides support to business development or pursuit activities.
Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology: Serves as a technical specialist and has knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a particular practice area. Typically supports multiple projects on the technical challenges. Manages engineering resources for the Power Delivery office. Resolves resource conflicts and identifies training needs.
• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
• Minimum of 10 years related work experience
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to substation and switchyard design.
• Understand various scopes of work related to consulting engineering projects.
• Require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure.
• Good interpersonal skills and demonstration of leadership attributes.
• Excellent command of English.
• Flexibility to travel.
