The employee in this position will be responsible for providing technical leadership across a set of projects, focused on Consumer Cloud Services, aimed at secure storage and access to a wide range of customer media. Responsibilities center on leading large, multi-department teams to cooperatively design and develop strategic business initiatives in the wireless network. Specific responsibilities include creation and documentation of service and technical requirements, high-level design, detailed design, and vendor management.
The position requires significant interaction with vendors to identify, specify, negotiate, and deploy software and hardware solutions, sometimes including creation and management of an RFP/RFI process and negotiation of contracts. Another key function is interfacing with internal teams such as marketing, other engineering/operations teams, and IT to understand user, device/handset, provisioning, alarming, capacity/demand trending, operational, administrative, and revenue assurance requirements. Frequently, the members of this team author high-level test plans, provide input to test cases, and execute test cases. This team member will need to be able to pull together test plans and ensure their on-time execution.
The employee will be expected to understand customer needs and the competitive landscape, as well as the latest technological and business innovations in storage architecture and system solutions to support Verizon Cloud product offerings. Members of this team are responsible for the system architecture, requirements, design, engineering, and testing associated with these new and current wireless products and services.
Education: BS degree in computer science or electrical engineering preferred or equivalent work experience considered
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, superior analytical skills, substantial experience in engineering and design
Independent, self-motivated, and experienced in leading technical teams.
General knowledge of SDN/NFV architecture and concepts
Demonstrated knowledge of wireless networks and devices, capacity planning, performance engineering, and software defined networks.
Demonstrated experience in engineering and organizational leadership, vendor management, budget oversight, reviewing and approving statements of work and contract/price negotiations
Previous experience in managing people and teams is a plus
