Role Summary

The Office of Legal Obligation (OLO) program is a firm-wide, global initiative that brings together the expertise of Legal, Lines of Business (LoBs), Oversight & Control, Compliance, Risk and other key control functions, to proactively manage regulatory changes in our operations and allow us to trace end-to-end connections between laws, rules and regulations on the one hand, and our policies and procedures that demonstrate compliance on the other.

The JPMorgan CIB Office of Legal Obligations ("OLO") team is responsible for the oversight and management of the CIB End-to-End Legal and Regulatory Process Program (“Program”). This Program is sponsored at the operating committee level of JPMorgan Chase (“JPMC”).

The JPMorgan CIB OLO team is responsible for the developing, deploying, overseeing and reporting of a program that ensures that obligations are drafted and proceed through the process lifecycle to completion and to support an ongoing change management process. This includes building awareness of the program in the Firm and ensuring consistency in global understanding and dissemination of regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will join the CIB OLO program team and be responsible for leading the Procedures work stream. This will include hiring of staff to complete the required objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and define recommended approach for CIB Procedures work stream. This will include tactical approach to meet short term deliverables accompanied by a more sustainable model/approach for the longer term program objectives. The plans should also include resource plans (including dedicated FTE and leveraging SMEs across the LOB/Firm)

  • Establishment of the Procedures workstream , driving change implementation where required. The following elements are key areas:

  • Establish a Procedures inventory for CIB - estimated to be in excess of 15,000. This will include the tactical housing and then a strategic solution

  • Work in partnership with CIB Policy Governance team to define and implement the required Governance framework to manage and oversee the CIB procedures inventory

  • Manage and track procedures gap remediation from Mapping and execution work stream

  • Oversee any remediation of procedures required to new standards ( if they are defined) - this could include offshoring or the use of third parties

  • Partner with the CIB OLO Program Lead, CIB OLO Business Development lead and key SMEs within CIB and key Corporate OLO leads to define and implement the work stream

  • Assume a key leadership role within the CIB OLO program. Build and develop relationships within the program , across CIB , other LOBs and the Corporate program team

  • Work in close collaboration with Mapping and Execution lead to ensure execution of program deliverables is strategic and holistic

  • Active engagement and partnership with senior LOB and functional stakeholders impacted to ensure program is managed at the right level and execution of deliverables is deep and successful

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and information sharing for efficient execution

  • Communication status updates to stakeholder senior management and regulators through presentations and reports in multiple forums as required

  • In addition to managing their direct team, the Procedures Work stream lead will also have locational oversight for any CIB OLO program team resources in the location they reside


  • Leader able to successfully operate across regions, business and functions with proven strong negotiation, influencing and relationship skills

  • Proven execution skills in Operations on high priority programs ( or urgent business situations), able to shape teams and respond to complex issues

  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi- tasking skills

  • Creativity and ability to challenge standard practices , ensuring every opportunity is considered to transform current state into a best practice

  • Candidate would ideally have deep knowledge of organization with strong understanding of products and markets in which CIB operate in

  • Experience in Operations, Compliance and Control functions is highly desirable

  • Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and communicate effectively and comfortably with senior people

  • Proactive approach to problem solving, owning the issues and having the determination to follow tasks /issues through. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a changing work environment

  • Ability to execute tasks under aggressive targets and effectively manage changes in plan

  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Power point
