The Chief Administrative Office Operations team supports compliance, and manages and maintains reference data to ensure that our customers, employees, and lines of business are in adherence with firm standards and required regulations.

Description of Role, Functions and Activities

Client Reference Data Operations (CRD) is an operating unit center of excellence that enables multiple lines of business across J.P. Morgan Chase to leverage consistent, high-quality client reference data. The team’s responsibilities include setting up, maintaining and off-boarding client reference data, as well as supporting targeted data quality remediation efforts. CRD also supports the External Party Data Domain, which involves definitional and data model work.

The CRD Product team supports the different client reference data products used at J.P. Morgan Chase. Product Business Analysts (BAs) support the planning and execution of changes made to these products, and partner closely with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of tactical and strategic change efforts.

The candidate must be a change agent who can influence stakeholders and provide factual analysis to support the decision making process. The candidate must be results oriented and able to clearly articulate any issues impeding progress along with proposed resolution recommendations.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

As a business analyst, you will provide excellent business and system analysis with regard to delivering automated solutions to meet the requirements provided by businesses, technology users, Operations teams, and chief data offices. In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Interviewing requestors to gather/validate facts and requirements

  • Writing and syndicating project plans and requirements documents, in collaboration with various stakeholder groups

  • Translating requirements documents into technology stories

  • Creating test cases, running Agile ceremonies (i.e., product backlog, sprint planning, sprint review) with technology teams, and driving technology priorities and deliverables

  • Clearly defining objectives, leading the development of an implementation plan for the technology solution, and overseeing the execution of that plan

  • Identifying issues and developing and communicating resolutions

  • Reviewing the current operating model for various products and processes, and creating functional requirements to gain operational efficiencies

  • Reviewing current tools used by Operations, and creating requirements to streamline processes and reporting

  • Ad-hoc project work as directed

  • Bachelor’s degree + 5-7 years relevant experience in technology business analysis, preferably in financial services

  • Familiarity with data management, reference data, client onboarding and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, and industry sources of reference data is preferable but not mandatory

  • Experience working on technology projects using the Agile methodology

  • Experience in full systems development lifecycle from project initiation, requirements definition, user acceptance testing through implementation

  • Experience in writing test plans, test scripts and test cases

  • Experience working in reference data platforms and/or with external market vendor products (e.g., BBG, Reuters)

  • Experience in transforming a technology operating model

  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail and presentation skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate within a team environment and interact across departments

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible to work alone and with a team to meet targets

  • Strong client focus

  • Proven ability to work accurately and under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Intermediate to Advanced experience using Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint
