About the Agency
The selectee for this position will serve as a Utilities System Operator Work Leader in the Public Works department of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Leads several boiler plant operators in performing the work of the boiler plant.
- Inspects feed water controls and gauges, maintaining water levels by operation of feed water pumps.
- Lights off and shuts down boilers and pumps as needed.
- Performs and directs operational maintenance of boilers, chillers and auxiliaries.
- Maintains operational logs for boilers and air conditioning plant.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Lead or Supervise as demonstrated by having the ability to perform simple tasks or having received training on this type of work: 1) Conducting daily operation and maintenance of boiler and chilled water plants; 2) Demonstrating proper working methods and setting the pace of the unit and 3) Checking work in progress and reporting work status or problems to the supervisor.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. Work requires working on various shifts. Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position. Work requires lifting and moving heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. Work requires frequent, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and climbing. Work is performed indoors; however, employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures, smoke, dirt, noise, unpleasant odors, toxic fumes, soot, toxic dust, water fuel oil, chemicals and all types of weather conditions.
