POSITION SUMMARY:Assists or leads in the planning, forecasting, implementation, andidentification of resource requirements for network systems of highcomplexity. Designs and establishes corporate standards, develops andimplements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement.Responsible for implementation of approved network architecture and designs.Leader in staff development efforts.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance thecustomer experience.Leads in network planning, network architecture design and engineering.Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures,topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links andprotocols into complete network configurations.Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution.Leads in the development and documentation of technical standards.Develops and implements approved methods of procedure.Designs and establishes corporate standards, develops and implements networkenhancements and makes recommendations for improvement.Works on projects/ systems/issues of high complexity surrounding networkplanning, configuration and optimization.Provides escalated tier support across organizations and to third partyvendors, including on call.Works on one or more projects as a team leader.Coaches less experienced staff.Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, asapplicable.Knows, understands and follows company policy.Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate withemployees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and bywritten communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional mannerAbility to use personal computer and software applicationsData networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)Ability to work in a team environmentAdvanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE,ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging,Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocolsAdvanced Knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols andnetwork topologyAdvanced Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI ModelAdvanced knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support thecurrent operations.Advanced Knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliancesAdvanced knowledge of network designing software, such as VisioAbility to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learnnew technology quicklyAbility to use the following office equipment telephone, copier, fax,and calculatorAbility to use personal computer and software applicationsKnowledge of Microsoft OfficeEDUCATION:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, orrelated field or equivalent work experienceRELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:Data network experience 5 yearsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of company products and servicesCERTIFICATION:Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP or CCIP)Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco,Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc)WORKING CONDITIONS:Office EnvironmentMay work in Network Lab environment24X7 Network Operations environmentOccasional travel as requiredEmployer's Job# 195439BRPlease visit job URL for more information about this opening and to view EOEstatement.
