This position is located in the Mental Health Department, Directorate for Health Services, Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point. The Mental Health Department provides outpatient psychiatric, psychological, and mental health services to active duty members and adult family members. The selected individual will be responsible for providing independent mental health assessments and treatment services in accordance with privileges granted.
Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point , North Carolina, "Your Gateway to Better Health", mission is to enable readiness, wellness and healthcare to Sailors, Marines, their families and all others entrusted to us worldwide - be it on land or at sea. The clinic is an outpatient medical facility with Navy Medicine's only stand alone Ambulatory Procedures Unit, providing General Surgery, Gynecology, Orthopedic, Oral/Maxillofacial and Podiatry surgical services. During a typical month, the command performs 8,381 outpatient medical appointments, 60 ambulatory surgical procedures, 18,000 laboratory studies, 2,622 radiological studies, and 22,000 prescriptions fills. The Naval Health Clinic is staffed by 433 military, civilian and contract personnel. Our staff participates in numerous community events. A typical day in the life of a Clinical Psychologist
Provide diagnostic assessments to eligible beneficiaries referred to the Mental Health Department.
Apply extensive knowledge of psychotherapeutic approaches and use professionally sound judgment in employing the most appropriate technique/approach in each case.
Maintain liaison with the command served in the clinic's jurisdiction as well as with treatment providers and organizations involved with active duty personnel or their family members.
Serve as licensed independent practitioner for the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program, providing expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of substance abuse.

BASIC REQUIREMENT for Clinical Psychologist :All applicants must meet the following basic requirement:
Completion of all of the requirements for a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology (Ph.D, Psy.D, or equivalent) from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. AND
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: This position has selective placement factors: The selective placement factors are must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification AND must hold a current State license in clinical psychology from a U.S. State, territory or district ANDmust possess an one year American Psychological Association (APA) accredited clinical internship OR APA accredited postdoctoral residency OR fellowship ORhave attained board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) OR Clinical Psychologist commissioned/employed in the Navy prior to March 27, 2015 who has completed an one year clinical internship. Failure to document or provide evidence of selective placement factors in your resume will result in an ineligible rating.
IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC REQUIREMENT AND SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS, APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:Your resume must demonstrate at least one or more years of progressive related specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience as professional Clinical Psychologist performing duties evaluating, diagnosing and assessing a variety of patients with substance abuse and mental health disorders; applying psychological theories, principles to explain, or justify psychological diagnoses, conclusions, findings or treatment recommendations.
