Chesterfield County Summer Therapeutic Recreation Personnel in Chesterfield, Virginia

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; two years of college coursework in Therapeutic Recreation or related field and/or equivalent direct experience working with individuals with disabilities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. First aid/CPR certification preferred. Must possess and be able to demonstrate behavior management knowledge and techniques. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties:

Staff duties may include inclusion services and/or specialized summer camps and recreation programs for individuals with disabilities, ages 6 to adult. Staff may perform some activities of daily living such as toileting, changing and feeding. Staff will plan, coordinate and implement therapeutic activities in camps and/or other recreation programs. Lift and transfer equipment to and from different locations. Communicate effectively with other staff members, parents, and school personnel about camper/camp/program issues as well as document this information. Perform other work as required.

Shift:

Approximately 8 weeks; shift varies Monday - Friday; morning/afternoon shifts.
