Global Real Estate is the private real estate business within the alternatives platform of J.P. Morgan Asset Management which offers investment solutions in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific across the risk spectrum in pooled funds, club investments and separately managed accounts vehicles. Established in 1970, Global Real Estate manages over $83 billion in assets under management on behalf of global institutional and high-net-worth investors and has 19 offices across the globe.

This person will join the portfolio management team for JPMorgan’s U.S. real estate funds for defined contribution plans. Primary responsibilities include advancing JPMorgan’s industry leading position by authoring and contributing to research papers about relevant topics, representing JPMorgan at industry forums and educating the defined contribution industry about the strategic advantages and mechanics of including real estate in defined contribution asset allocation solutions.

Objectives include expanding the client base for our defined contribution real estate strategies, researching ideas for new products, monitoring the evolving competitive space, and considering changes to our product design, services and features to ensure our offering is best in class.

The position is to be based in New York and reporting to the Portfolio Manager for our US Real Estate Defined Contribution strategies.

The position will require very frequent client contact, requiring excellent communication skills both oral and written and compelling presentation skills.

Primary Responsibilities

This individual will play a critical part in:

  • Growing our assets under management for U.S. investors (including corporate pension funds, state and government sponsored investment funds, professionally managed solutions products and other investors) for our current defined contribution real estate funds and future strategies.

  • Authoring research pieces that advance industry dialogue on key issues such as liquidity, the benefits and tradeoffs of private real estate versus publicly traded inflation sensitive assets and quantitative support for glide path design including real estate

  • Representing real estate industry trends, market conditions, portfolio positioning and performance to clients, prospects and consultants in a clear, concise, accurate and compelling way.

  • Exploring new business opportunities that fit within our platform and model.

  • Managing existing client relationships with a goal of deepening and expanding the assets we manage on their behalf.

Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of portfolio construction for defined contribution asset allocation solutions and how real estate fits within mixed asset portfolios

  • A working knowledge of the operational mechanics of DC asset allocation solutions, including the roles of various service providers and how they incorporate private real estate

  • Minimum 5 years experience with real estate in defined contribution space

  • An ability to articulate and discuss real estate portfolio performance and underlying assets

  • A strong understanding regional economic forecasts and the ability to interpret them relative to the performance of U.S. real estate assets

  • Excellent presentation skills which enable the delivery of concise presentations and investment reviews

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a genuine interest in the subject matter

  • Strong relationship building skills applicable to existing clients, prospective clients and internal constituents

  • Ability to thrive in an innovating and evolving environment

  • A strong work ethic; results oriented; willing to travel extensively to ensure successful results

  • The highest ethical values in professional and personal conduct.

  • Undergraduate degree in business or related field (higher level of education preferred, MBA/CFA)

  • Series 3, 7 and 63 certifications are a plus
