This Visitor Services Associate position is stationed at the Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Reserve and Obey Interpretive Center located near New Auburn, WI. Visitor Services staff provide the person to person contact that makes a visit to the Chippewa Moraine an enjoyable and memorable experience.

This position would be responsible for the following tasks. Greet visitors; Provide information and answer visitor questions concerning the Ice Age Reserve; Explain the area's recreational opportunities, distribute maps and brochures, provide directions/routes of travel throughout the property, inform visitors of current trail conditions. Provide interpretive and educational guidance through materials provided at the Center. Assist in cleaning/maintenance of the Visitor Center and the property. Assist in the care and handling of live animals, bird feeders, flower gardens, the surrounding grounds and hiking trails. Collect fees, sell merchandise, and account for fees taken in; Use computerized reservation and reporting system, maintain a state email account.

This is a limited term (LTE) position. _ Limited term positions do not automatically lead to or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employment, but this position does offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin.  LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours within a twelve-month period. In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin._

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent public relations skills; be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public.

  • Must be able to work independently, have good organizational skills, be self-motivated and punctual.

  • Must be proficient in use of computer and handling cash sales.

  • Must be able to work on a variety of tasks with little supervision once training is complete.
