The Legal Division strives to be a valuable business partner by providing timely legal advice and counsel that protects the integrity, reputation, and business of Fifth Third Bancorp. Attorneys, paralegals, and administrative assistants work in unison to support all lines of business in their daily activities, decision-making, performance, and in the achievement of strategic initiatives and goals.
Attorney for one or more divisions, subsidiaries, or business lines of the Bancorp concentrating on a particular field of practice.
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Responsible for legal matters affecting the Divisions represented, with specific focus in the areas of retail banking, U.C.C. Articles 3 and 4, Regulation DD, Regulation E, Regulation CC and the Electronic Signature Act.
-Act as Regional liaison.
-Proactive surveillance of regulatory changes to the environment
-Interpretation of regulatory changes identified
-Ongoing guidance of the interpretation for regulatory requirements and impacted changes
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
-J.D degree from accredited law school
-At least 3 years of significant and relevant experience with a law firm or corporation in the relevant areas of expertise
-Admission to a state bar
-Good communication skills, both written and verbal
-Ability to interface successfully with senior management
-Good negotiation skills
-Knowledge of the areas of expertise including technical knowledge
-Good issue spotting, risk assessment, and problem solving skills
-Good research skills
-Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.
-Extended viewing of a CRT screen.
