This position is responsible and accountable for managing site EHS programs and processes that identify, evaluate and control hazards inherent in the pharmaceutical manufacturing and finished Goods packaging processes and for maintaining full compliance with all federal, state, local and Actavis EHS rules and regulations. This position establishes and implements policies and procedures based on EHS requirements. It also creates, promotes, administers and reviews EHS related programs. This role is also responsible and accountable for ensuring that the facility is in full compliance with federal, state, local and corporate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements, rules and regulations and for the effective resolution of noncompliance events, environmental releases, work-related injuries and illnesses if/when they occur, including determination of root causes, and corrective and preventive actions.
Main Areas of Responsibility

· Oversees and is responsible for the training of employees on EHS related topics as required by federal, state, local and Actavis rules and regulations.
· Conducts formal and informal audits of management systems & performance of operating units, suppliers, 3rd party manufacturers, TSDFs, etc. Collect performance data and prepare summary reports of metrics, issues and opportunities.
· This position will also support Corporate EHS Audit in the role of Lead EHS Auditor and support the development and implementation of Corporate EHS policies and programs. Will require travel to support two Corporate EHS Site Audits annually.
A minimum of seven (7) – ten (10) years progressively responsible related experience preferably in the pharmaceutical, food or cosmetic industries including at least two (2) years of experience at a management level or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Safety Professional (CSP); California Registered Environmental Assessor (REA); certified hazardous materials Manager (CHMM); or other related license or certification preferred.
Undergraduate Degree in public/health administration, biological sciences, environmental health and safety or related field from an accredited college or university is required (Master’s degree preferred).
