Vantiv Operational Risk Analyst in Cincinnati, Ohio
The Operational Risk Management (ORM) team is responsible for the development, execution, and maintenance of the company's operational risk management program. ORM focuses on both strategic and tactical risks that may impact the company's ability to achieve its business objectives. This includes understanding how our known risks are changing over time and evaluating emerging risks on the horizon. The scope of ORM also includes managing the risk of direct or indirect loss, or reputational harm, from inadequate or failed processes, people, and systems, or from external events. ORM also partners closely with other control functions including Legal, Compliance, Security, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, and Internal Audit, in addition to the front and back office business areas and operational areas.
GENERAL FUNCTION :
Our Risk Analyst will need to bring strong critical thinking, initiative, drive, and an interest in technology to a fast growing, technology-based payments industry leader. He/she will be responsible for supporting the Risk Management Sr. Leader by participating in assessments, as well as partnering with other governance, operations, risk, and compliance functions throughout the organization. This individual will be responsible for conducting assessments and monitoring ongoing strategic remediation activities, focusing on how technology securely enables the business to meet strategic objectives while successfully navigating a complex regulatory environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, the Risk Analyst will assist with the development, execution, and maintenance of the programs and activities related to management of critical operational risks at the overall direction of the Senior Leader. He/she will act as an advisor to business partners and influence risk/reward considerations in decision-making while analyzing new business and products from a risk/reward perspective. This individual must have the ability to clearly articulate risk concepts throughout the company.
Additional responsibilities include:
Working with various lines of business within the organization to develop a culture that fosters self-identification of business and operational issues
Conduct periodic risk assessments of operational areas to identify areas of risk, including the documentation of risks, identification of risk owners, measurement of risks, and facilitation of appropriate risk treatment plans
Work with process owners within business functions critical to day to day operations to document key processes and quickly recognize controls and gaps along with ability to quantify risks associated with gaps
Work with business process owners to develop key risk indicators that lead to prediction of change in risk factors within operational areas.
Coordinate with business process owners on the root cause analysis and corrective action plans for identified issues
Work with other risk managers to develop and improve risk assessment and measurement techniques and tools, including use of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), group sessions, statistical modeling software or other methods of improving overall quality of Operational risk reporting and accuracy
Assist the Enterprise Risk team on operational risks that may lead to enterprise level risks
Support the use of tools within the Operational Risk Management team to maintain and improve the accuracy of risk information and efficiency of the team including maintaining the risk register and periodic reporting of the status of tracked risks
Develop and maintain productive relationships with process and risk owners.
Obtain an understanding and knowledge of Vantiv and the payment processing/fintech industry.
Participate in departmental initiatives, administrative matters, and special projects as assigned by the Risk & Compliance leadership team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Risk Analyst will serve as an individual contributor, performing risk assessment and management activities independently and as a part of the team.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance or related degrees and may be accompanied by relevant additional work experience in audit or risk management.
Candidate should possess or be progressing towards a professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, CRISC or other relevant audit or risk management professional certification.
2-4 years of experience in risk management, audit, consulting, or related compliance/risk role; large public accounting firm audit experience is preferred.
Must be able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid change.
Sound technical writing and oral communication skills required.
Demonstrate and apply strong project management skills, inspire teamwork and responsibility with team members, and use of technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of the risk management process and deliverables.
Ability to work within a team environment and maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment that often requires management/completion of multiple tasks.
Demonstrates ability to display a positive business presence and sound judgment with management and external personnel.
Must be proactive in identifying potential concerns and following-up to resolve such issues
Strong analytical and problem solving skills; demonstrates critical thinking and decision making ability
Strong organizational and research skills; proven attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)
Highly motivated, team player, self starter and able to work independently
Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.
Limited overnight travel may be required.
