Vantiv Senior DataPower Engineer in Cincinnati, Ohio

Technical Landscape: IBM DataPower XG45 appliances (physical and virtual) , IBM WebSphere (v6.x, v7.x, and v8.x), Oracle WebLogic Server v11.x, IBM MQ Series v7.x, Apache Tomcat v7.x and v8.x, Apache HTTP Server v2.x, RedHat Linux, AIX UNIX

Required "Must Have" Skills:

  • 8+ years' experience engineering and administering large-scale Middleware environments

  • Strong background in Infrastructure Engineering

  • Must have a strong understanding of IBM DataPower SOA appliances

  • Must have experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting services using SOA DataPower appliances

  • Must have experience with various DataPower services such as XML, Firewall, Web Service Proxy (WSP), and Multi-Protocol Gateway (MPG)

  • Must have experience with XML and related technologies, like XSLT and XPath

  • Experience in implementing different securities on DataPower such as SAML Authentication, AAA LDAP, etc.

  • Datapower troubleshooting, services instrumentation, monitoring, and logging

  • Experience in setting up devices from scratch and enabling WEB GUI, XML Management interfaces, and LDAP setup

  • Knowledge of Local/Global Traffic Management topologies

  • Knowledge of Subversion or similar source code control systems

  • Be able to manage multiple complex technical projects

  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Must have experience working with security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signatures) and with SSL

  • Able to create shell scripts to automate processes through the Middleware stack

  • Be a team player with excellent problem solving skills


  • Design, build, and troubleshoot services on IBM DataPower SOA appliance.

  • Daily operations and project support, including deployments, patching, and upgrades

  • Enabling and managing monitoring, alerting, and reporting through the Middleware stack

  • Ability to identify operational bottlenecks, performance and security issues, and other caps in the Middleware stack and provide valuable input to mitigate them

  • Evaluate new platform features and provide input to operational middleware design

  • Identify and apply innovative technologies to update existing middleware stack.

  • Create and maintain documentation for middleware installations, changes and upgrades.

  • Develop and implement strategies for migration, consolidation, and upgrade of Middleware components

  • Develop and implement standard processes for installation, maintenance, and enhancement of middleware applications

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application development, testing, and release teams to utilize and monitor system resources when implementing new Middleware environments

  • On call support in a 24/7 environment, as needed
