OBJECTIVE:To transport employees and clients from home to work and from work toappropriate bus stops.REQUIREMENTSThe incumbent must be willing to be certified in CPR and First Aid. A validColorado driver s license without a history of violations with a two-yearsafe driving record is also required. The incumbent must be between the agesof 25 and 70 for insurance purposes and needs to have at least one yearexperience of driving a 14-passenger van. This position requires flexibilityin the reporting hours as it is a split shift. Hours will vary as needed.OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCESHigh School diploma or GED preferred. It is preferred that the incumbent haveexcellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact withvarious types of internal and external customers. It is also preferred thatthe incumbent have the ability to relate effectively to disabled person. TheVan Driver must maintain a professional attitude, appropriate hygiene,dress and grooming and be punctual and dependable. Incumbent must be able toperform heavy lifting and sitting for prolonged periods. Occasional overtimemay be required.KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS {Essential Functions}TransportationThe Van Driver will use sound judgment when speaking with parents and HostHome Providers demonstrating the ability to relate to persons withdisabilities and understanding of their needs. The incumbent will transportall assigned consumers to and from residence to day program. The Van Drivermust be able to read and understand road maps, maintain, follow and adjustschedule of consumer pick-up and drop off times. The afternoon run will havesome wait time due to employees needs on transportation, sometimes waitingtimes will be longer than expected. The incumbent will follow rules andregulations for driving within the state of Colorado.Van Maintenance and SafetyThe Van Driver is responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle s interiorand exterior. The incumbent will ensure all consumers utilize seat belts atall times as well as assist consumers on and off the vans at all times. TheVan Driver will ensure the vehicle s tank is maintained at least half fullat all times.Tracking and ReportingThe Van Driver will conduct and document vehicle inspection sheet of thevehicle prior to operating and report any vehicle deficiencies to thesupervisor immediately. The incumbent will maintain a good working knowledgeof vehicle accident reporting.Relationship ManagementThe Van Driver will communicate effectively with consumers, co-workers andstaff personnel. The incumbent will communicate concerns and behaviors ofconsumers with case managers and maintain confidentiality. In addition, theVan Driver will engage and maintain conversations/interactions/responseswith consumers that encourage independence and respect.
