Truman VA is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services complete with state-of-the-art technology, education, and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through emergency medicine, primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in the areas of medicine, surgery, mental health, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care.

Recruiting for a Full Time board certified or board eligible Interventional Radiology physician for the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Duties will include:

  • Practice inpatient and outpatient Vascular and Interventional Radiology, inclusive of an IR Patient Clinic, responding in a timely fashion to consults for IR care, and after hours/call duty. The IR physician will process and complete IR work within a time frame that is in keeping with established VA standards.
  • Practice will include a wide range of Vascular and Interventional Radiology work, with the gamut including injections , biopsies, myelograms, drains, diagnostic CTA interpretations, Microwave Ablation and Chemoembolization procedures. May occasionally perform a small amount of general radiology work , based on staffing needs.
  • May be a joint appointment with the University of Missouri -Columbia School of Medicine.
  • Teaching duties range from radiology resident instruction to proctoring of multidisciplinary conferences.
  • The IR physician shall remain ABR board certified throughout their term of employment, and will maintain adequate CME, BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • When Working at the VA campus, direct Supervisor will be the VA Chief of Radiology.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, may be required to work after hours call/duty.

Basic Requirements:

  • Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3 years of specialized practice as Attending Physician in Interventional Radiology
  • Vascular and Interventional Radiology accredited fellowship with Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ)
