The WJB Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking a Physician to serve as the Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&R;), activities and duties of this service include but are not limited to the following, evaluating and treating outpatients who have traumatic brain injuries (TBI), various musculoskeletal conditions, neuromuscular disorders, amputations and prosthetic needs; performing outpatient musculoskeletal and interventional pain procedures, and managing patients with audiological conditions. The Chief of PM&R; works under the direction of the Chief of Staff. The Chief, PM&R; duties will include overseeing administration and research efforts in the department, maintaining high quality customer service, and meeting performance measures of the PM&R; Service.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - some occasions may require work outside of this core schedule as this is a 24/7 Hospital facility.

Basic Requirements*: *

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience: Board Certification in PHYSIATRY.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Requirements:

Major duties are administrative in nature and are mostly sedentary (do not require constant physical activities). However, there may be times when hands on clinical duties must be done, this may require moderate lifting 15-44lbs; Straight pulling up to 4hrs; Pushing up to 4hrs, Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking up to 2hrs; Standing up to 7hrs, Kneeling up to 1hr; Repeated bending; Both legs required; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/50 and to 20/100 in the other; Hearing aid permitted.
