Kforce Analytical Chemist in Corvallis, Oregon

Kforce has an enterprise technology client seeking an Analytical Chemist in Corvallis, Oregon (OR). This position is part of the client's Analytical & Development lab where fellow scientists and engineers are working on advanced technologies in the core and emerging 3D printing markets. This resource will be part of a collaborative development team that spans across multiple internal businesses, technologies, and geographies where they will contribute their technical chemistry knowledge and hands on analytical expertise in Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, and other relevant wet chemistry analysis to solve technical problems for the business. The intention is delivery of quality insights to the client partners, and helping to accelerate and advance technologies. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include hands on procedural lab work utilizing multiple chemical analysis techniques (LC/MS (TOF & QTOF), GC/MS, ICP, XRF etc.) and related sample preparation inclusive of methods development. The chemist will apply these skills to conduct complex, accurate analyses that give meaningful insights to technology and product development teams (such as R&D teams). This resource will clearly communicate results and analysis in context of their business application to engineering partners in verbal and written form. Experience must be well founded on a solid theoretical understanding of chemistry. Qualified candidate will be analyzing, characterizing, and troubleshooting complex material systems (in the form of organic/inorganic/polymer/ink/pigment) pertaining to ink jet and 3D printer business. Additionally, they will be contributing to the build out of exact mass LC/MS Library with search functionality through the addition of algorithms & MS data from an incredibly broad suite of materials (e.g. polymers to surfactants).

  • MS or PhD in Analytical Chemistry (or equivalent) with minimum of 2 years direct analytical experience using LC/MS, GC/MS and associated sample preparation methods & techniques

  • Experience with colloidal systems, reverse and normal phase chromatography, identification of unknowns using TOF and QTOF mass spectrometry, and sample prep of acid/base and solvent systems

  • Strong technical, collaborative and organizational skills


  • Experience with Agilent and Bruker analytical equipment & software

  • SQL expertise (Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MS Reporting Services)

  • Data automation experience

  • Programming background (python, Java, C#)
