HP Intern Engineer in Corvallis, Oregon
Four-year university students who are working in a technical internship role at the company during their study or in summer breaks between university semesters.
This position will be situated in the New Product Introduction organization that will be launching new inkjet printer products into the market, with a focus on the print-head and ink supplies design. The Product Engineering Team works with product development and manufacturing teams to ensure that the products that are shipped meet the needs of the customer. We use systems engineering methods and experimental characterization to solve issues and understand risks to the end customer. The intern will be working with the full value chain of the product, from working with the design engineer on design challenges to dealing with issues on the factory floor to understanding the impact shipping on the product to correlating factory metrics to end-customer experiences.
Students will be responsible for several projects over the course of their tenure that will entail problem-solving, experimental design, tool design and statistical analysis. These assignments will span day-to-day responsibilities and 1-2 in-depth problem solving. This position will be optimized to the strengths and skills of the student who is hired, ranging from experimental tool design to becoming skilled in statistics and designed experiments.
Education and Experience Required:
High School Degree, 3rd Year of University completed in physics, engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical preferred). Will consider 2nd Year students, depending on their previous experiences and credentials. Demonstrated proficiency in technical problem-solving required (can be team project-related or within school curriculum) - problem defined as a messy situation that the answer is not known beforehand. Minimum of 3.3 GPA
Demonstrated proficiency in being in teams - team leadership experience preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in basic statistics
Demonstrated proficiency in hands-on engineering methods
Needs to be curious and creative in problem-solving
