NuScale Power Plant Operations Supervisor (Limited Duration) - INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY (607-2017) in Corvallis, Oregon

*POSITION SUMMARY: *The Independent Plant Operator Supervisor recruits, hires, and supervises a team of 18-24 operations personnel for performance of the Integrated System Validation (ISV) testing of the NuScale control room design (reference NUREG-0800 Standard Review Plan for the Review of Safety Analysis Reports for Nuclear Power Plants: LWR Edition). This individual will be required to manage performance and provide oversight to the group of Independent Plant Operators to ensure the successful completion of the ISV. This position will be located in the NuScale office in Corvallis, Oregon. This position is for the duration of personnel hiring and ISV training and testing and is anticipated to be 1.5 years; further job duties will be discussed before the end of ISV testing and will be dependent on business needs.


  1. Responsible for recruiting and hiring a sufficient number of Independent Plant Operators (IPOs) to fully staff the ISV crews by the start of the ISV training program. The timeframe for this duty is approximately six months.

  2. Supervises and assists the IPOs to accomplish: a) Integrated System Validation training and b) Integrated System Validation testing.

  3. Performs administrative functions supporting the supervision of the IPOs such as: reviewing and writing reports, approving expense reports, and approving time sheets.

  4. Performs supervisory functions for the IPOs such as providing: daily oversight, performance monitoring, evaluations, coaching, counseling, and performance improvement plans as required.

  5. Interfaces and coordinates with internal and external clients for successful project execution (includes executives, managers, other supervisors, and subcontractors); collaborates with record management, information technology, engineering, and project management departments.

  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering or related technical field.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience at commercial and or Navy nuclear power plants in Operations or Training, Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license is required, PWR SRO license is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Overall Job Knowledge and Performance: General understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theories. Understanding of multiple, diverse technical disciplines preferred.

Skills: Strong technical writing skills. Good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills. Exceptional organization skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases.

Quality Assurance: Working knowledge of or ability to understand the quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 or equivalent.
