Instructional Designer Job Description

The Instructional Designer will work with Subject Matter Experts to consolidate existing training materials from two business units into new, merged and cohesive training materials. The is a full time position. It will include design, writing, development and maintenance of instructor-led and e-learning courses/tutorials, webinars, user guides, quick reference guides, job aids, policies, procedures and other learning and support materials for business initiatives. The successful candidate will be able to manage the development cycle for projects including needs analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation.

  • Formulating and developing training programs for all programs and levels

  • Develop training using a variety of media including instructor-led and computer based

  • Interacts with internal stakeholders to understand training needs and measure outcomes

  • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to edit, standardize and/or make changes to material prepared by others

  • Maintain version control on all documents

  • Design templates to organize the look and feel of company training programs

  • Participate in testing of online courses to ensure they operate and are tracked correctly

  • Produce and verify status reports and escalate identified issues to appropriate management as needed

  • Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs

  • Have experience in using an LMS system

  • Comply with all security and confidentiality regulations of the company

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with up to 4 years of instructional design and development experience required or equivalent

  • Knowledge and skill with multimedia development software (e.g., Adobe tools, Articulate) or other simulation software

  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form clearly and accurately

  • Experience using LMS system proficiency

  • Analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Knowledge in adult learning techniques and other training best practices

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as other computer based programs

  • Ability to work efficiently in a high demand, team oriented, and fast paced environment
