Position Summary

The Sales Manager is responsible for the successful execution of the sales strategy to attain both revenue and profit plan. The Sales Manager’s mission is to deliver for FedEx Office a high return on investment and to firmly entrench FedEx Office as the supplier of choice by leading and developing their sales teams. Following the FedEx Office sales process, this person will identify, develop and grow FedEx Office prospective and existing local and national market customer bases.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for meeting and exceeding plan targets and for results in revenue and profit of combined direct reports

  • Leading the sales team in developing appropriate management tactics and strategies for accounts in the marketplace

  • Reinforce sales strategy by providing sales team with ongoing training, information and support

  • Responsible for the selection and development of the direct reporting sales team which includes sales representatives, sales supervisors and sales support positions depending on market size

  • Accountable for direct reports in all respects, including regular coaching and performance counseling and ensuring efficiency, productivity and morale

  • Responsible for building effective partnerships both within the sales organization and across all functions

  • Responsible for developing new commercial accounts in addition to increasing the sales of existing accounts

  • Possess solid financial insight that provides an understanding of our business model and that of the competition

  • Act in concert with the FedEx Office values and encourages team members to follow suit

  • All other duties as needed or required

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree, and/or advanced degree, in business or related field

  • 7+ years outside sales experience, selling business to business products or services preferred

  • 5+ years experience managing sales, and supervisor level team members preferred

  • Excellent time management skills to include prioritization of tasks, communication, execution to meet established deadlines

  • Must be able to demonstrate strong negotiation skills

  • Experience building and working with cross functional partners (HR, Talent Management, Finance, Technology) Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel

  • For new hires, must meet all FedEx Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring

  • For current FedEx Office team members, must meet hiring criteria for the position and transfer requirements as outlined in the Team Member Handbook

Essential Functions

  • Ability to travel as required in order to meet with customers, other team members, and/or other business necessities

  • Ability on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members

  • Ability on a consistent basis to work with FedEx Divisions; attending market council meetings, and involvement with FedEx events

  • Ability on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation, instruction, persuasion, and/or effective communication with others

  • Ability on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time

  • Ability on a consistent basis, to function under substantial time pressure, and to perform under the demands set by the company for sales performance and profit objectives

  • Ability to work without supervision

  • Ability to lead, supervise, and manage a group of team members to achieve operational objectives

  • Ability to perform the General Duties and Responsibilities set forth above in a consistent and efficient manner

  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance and/or reporting could include regular attendance at a physical location and/or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the position
