Texas Health Dallas is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech to work 2nd shift.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1 year experience working in a hospital
MINIMUM LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: None
MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS: •Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology •Knowledge of instrument handling and preparation standards (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) •Knowledge of basic inventory control concepts •Follow guidelines for use of Personal Protective Equipment including goggles, face shield, gown, gloves, and shoe covers •Good organization, communication, and time management skills •Strong customer service and problem resolution skills •Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision •Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English instructions, safety rules and guidelines •Basic computer proficiency
WORK HOURS/SCHEDULE: 5:00pm-1:30am Monday through Friday with possible weekend shift
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform sterile processing responsibilities in accordance with unit standards on all assigned procedures.
Demonstrate knowledge of tray arrangement, instrumentation handling and inspection, and appropriate packaging for all services and modes of sterilization.
Display ability to identify, record and retain all documentation regarding assembly and sterilization of equipment and instrumentation as required by the department policies and procedures.
Maintain knowledge and make appropriate decisions to discard or clean and decontaminate all items returned to the department for processing according to policies and procedures.
Adhere to department policies and procedures regarding vendor instruments being received from or returned to the provider company.
Follow unit policies related to sharps, sponges and instrumentation.
Practice standard precautions.
Follow unit policy related to appropriate surgical attire.
Accept responsibility to identify and solve equipment problems and report to the manager or designee and appropriate repair department.
Keep work environment neat and clean.
Returns instruments, equipment and supplies correctly to appropriate locations following sterilization.
Work to retrieve contaminated items and return processed items to the non-surgical services departments as required by the department policies and procedures.
Monitor appropriate set, instrument and assembly workstation inventory levels.
Perform other duties as assigned
