Position23023 - Aircraft Mechanic III - Machinist - Davis Monthan AFB, AZ
Shall know how to use and operate FeatureCam software in precision milling; manufacture a variety of components providing one-of-a-kind engineering fixes; items of high stress and make changes to complex machine tool programs; develop methods and techniques for prototype and/or new manufacture of jigs, holding devices, and fixtures required for project completion; compute, establish and verify tolerances, dimensions and finishes; plan for use multiple set ups to accomplish machining and/or grinding of complex fixtures; ensure parts are within tolerance using proper PME instruments; inspect, PAC certify for compliance, and follow government processes for component routing and if part is not within tolerance, follow local shop operating procedures for part specific processes.
Shall perform Production Support Center (PSC) duties which include kitting, tooling, tool inventory, and identification of correct tooling requirements; perform various tool setting requirements including balancing tools and tool holders, and set up tool packages for various jobs (according to government set up documentation from engineering or machinist; provide kits, according to government build sheets, which include material, tools and hardware for shop personnel to complete projects according to WCDs. Contractor shall ensure all tooling is correct and supportable before release to shop personnel; fabricate, overhaul, calibrate, and repair tools, jigs, fixtures and gauges used by workers performing machining and assembly work; shall develop, fabricate and repair casting molds, set up and operate tool cutting and grinding equipment, work from AFMC Form 202 (Nonconforming Technical Assistance Request and Reply), Supplier Quality Assurance Report (SQAR) and engineering instructions in order to repair aircraft. Contractor shall plan the sequence of operations, manufacture, assemble tools and fixtures, holding devices, jigs, and tooling as required; shall use hand drills and reamers, utilize triangulation, trigonometry, plane geometry, algebra and related shop mathematics to calculate dimensions and tolerances.

Duties and responsibilities
Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The employee receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

Must be able to safely move about in a maintenance environment
Must be able to sit, stand, squat, walk, and talk for extended periods during shift. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hand-to-finger movements, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with arms and hands. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Must be able to pass pre-employment, post-injury and random drug/alcohol test
Must be able to pass required hearing test, physicals and/or respirator exam

Must occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
