IT Assistant: Field end user support requests for local and remote users. Document work performed. Install Microsoft Windows computers and software. Abilities: Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical activity such as moving and lifting heavy cartons; complete work in a timely manner; work well with little supervision; use courtesy and tact with people, both in person and on the telephone. Ability to use postage scale, postage meter and follow US Postal Service regulations. Ability to use database software, basic accounting and university systems. Ability to be accurate and exhibit attention to detail. Ability to multitask, initiate and prioritize projects quickly and thoroughly.
Required Experience: Sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.

Knowledge: Of laboratory or general research practices and excellent organizational skills are essential. Specific needs for projects are a condition for employment; this is a pool recruitment that researchers, seeking qualified employees, will use to access potential recruits.
Abilities: Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and electronically. Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures. Ability and willingness to work with preserved samples. Must be willing to perform tedious tasks and be meticulous. Good office organizations skills. Knowledge of computers, scanners, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
Required Experience: No licenses are required. The successful applicant will typically have at least 6 months of laboratory or professional science research experience; successful completion of laboratory courses may be essential, depending on the specific duties required by individual projects.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT:
Duties: This position will operate under the direct supervision of the CFOS IT Manager and will work closely with other CFOS IT staff for guidance and support. The primary role of this position will be user desktop deployment and support for local and remote users, though other tasks or projects under the purview of CFOS IT may be assigned as needed. Secondary duties include web development, database development, or system testing.
Knowledge: Proficiency with Microsoft Windows system installation and support and PC hardware support.
Skills/Abilities: Strong verbal and written communications skills. Good time management skills.
Applicants must be able to maintain professional working relationships with customers and peers.
Required Experience: Applicants should have demonstrated coursework in an IT, computer or technology related field. Preference will be given to applicants who volunteer or have previous work experience in IT support or software development.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time position up to 20 hours/week while school is in session, additional hours available during summer/winter breaks.*Starting hourly rate is $10.50/hour.

NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
Applicant should be enrolled as a student in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student.
The successful applicant may be required to complete a background check. Any offer of employment is contingent on the background check.
