A high school diploma or its equivalentandone (1) year of work experience in a skilled trade or in public contact work.
College education from an accredited college or university can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
Vocational/technical training in a skilled trade can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.

The incumbent must obtain a Class “B” Commercial Driver License (CDL) within three (3) months of appointment.
The incumbent will be subject to pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and random drug testing provisions in accordance with Title 49 CFR Part 382, Federal Highway Administration Rules, effective January 1, 1995.
The hiring salary for this position is $11.37 hourly.
This work involves fuels management in wildland areas of Florida to reduce the wildfire threat. Conducting fuels treatment includes primarily prescribed fire and firebreak establishment. Work is performed region wide and requires frequent extended travel away from home. Scheduled work hours for this position are four 10 hour days.
The Park Ranger operates light and heavy equipment, works under the supervision of a Forestry Supervisor, and is often required to work alone or in small groups.
This individual operates and maintains various kinds of equipment used in wildfire mitigation including engines, bulldozers, transport trucks, ATV’s, and other specialized equipment. Work includes operation of numerous hand tools in preparing sites for prescribed burning. Liaison with private landowners and counterparts in public agencies. Identifies and alerts others to fire weather conditions conducive to erratic fire behavior. Participates in prescribed burning in wildland areas. Individual will complete required accomplishment reporting and mapping paperwork. Responds to All-Risk Emergency Incidents, based on qualifications and training, as required. Performs related work as required.
