VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) is the second largest and most complex VA system in the nation, comprised of the Dallas VA Medical Center, Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham, Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic and Tyler VA Primary Care Clinic. VANTHCS includes five Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) locations as well as an annex clinic located three miles from Dallas VAMC. A Fisher House is located on campus at Dallas VAMC. VANTHCS is an integrated health care system with approximately 5,000 employees and over 1,600 volunteers and clinical trainees. Through these four facilities and relationships with other agencies, VANTHCS offers health care services to approximately 500,000 veterans. Dallas VA Medical Center is the corporate headquarters for VANTHCS and serves as the tertiary referral center. Through its partnership with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, it also has emerged as a major teaching and medical research center. The Research Program operates $8.7 million in grants. Primary care and multi-specialty outpatient clinics are also provided, making VANTHCS the first in bed days of care, the second in unique Veterans served, and the second in outpatient visits. Applications are being accepted for a Nurse Manager in the Gastro-Intestinal Endoscopy Lab(Fort Worth). The following is a list of skills and characteristics which are essential attributes of this assignment:
Demonstrated experience managing personnel in a complex organization with several layers of leadership in the organizational structure
Designated first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the operations of the Gastro-Intestinal Endoscopy Lab, ensuring that subordinate personnel provide timely care which complies with generally accepted standards of practice
Responsible for the coordination, supervision and leadership of daily operations, nursing practice, quality of care, performance improvement, patient-safety, efficiency of services, environment of care, education and professional development
Responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, interviewing applicants, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, logistics, and accreditation and regulatory standards
Actively develops and manages collaborative partnerships with physicians and other clinicians to improve patient access and services
Responsible for staffing their units on a continual basis, validating daily patient acuity, classifications and care, and working with other nurse managers to identify and share resources
Responsible for time, attendance and payroll certification
Responsible for coaching staff, addressing employee conduct and performance
Complete recurring reports and performance evaluations timely
Participate on service and medical center committees, leadership development training and task forces to improve nursing practice and patient care
Identify educational needs and professional development of staff
Works in partnership with the union and adheres to EEO principles

Citizen of the United States.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience.
Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience.
Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.
