Long Description

Job Purpose

Responsible for the teams, systems and processes that support the analysis, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training programs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Informs and develops core initiatives supporting next generation talent development strategies for American Airlines

  • Ensures team stays current on advances in learning theory, instructional design /delivery methods, and training industry best practices and updates relevant processes, systems and approaches to remain current

  • Partners with operational training teams on the creation of online learning standards, templates, and selection of authoring tools

  • Leads direct reports and extended team members, articulating learning strategyand key priorities with a focus on customer service, business alignment, and quality

  • Oversees governance of the enterprise learning system, utilizing learning councils to ensure best practices are shared and standardized throughout the organization

  • Ensures learning system availability and data accuracy for key business partners

  • Partners with IT to lead learning application implementation and upgrade projects

  • Leads and manages key external vendor relationships

  • Manages L&D budget

  • Performs other duties as required

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Learning Design or equivalent experience/training

  • 8 years’ work experience in a training technology environment

  • 3 years’ of experience with learning management systems, including in-depth knowledge of user account maintenance and network administration

  • 8 years’ of experience in a supervisory/leadership role

  • 5 years of experience applying instructional design and adult learning methodologies to development/implementation of computer based training and other instructional materials

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree

  • Airline experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

  • Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning methodologies

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams efficiently and effectively, to meet department/division objectives

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within and across the organization
