YMCA of Greater Omaha Childcare Worker in Glenwood, Iowa

  • In collaboration with supervisor and other staff, plans, organizes and executes activities for children.

  • Monitors the area at all times to ensure safety and intervenes as necessary.

  • Models a positive environment for all participants.

  • Instructs children in the rules of the center and ensures adherence. Disciplines children only when appropriate and within the established guidelines of the YMCA and parent.

  • Immediately handles and reports all unusual incidents or accidents to the Supervisor and Executive Director and completes all necessary reports.

  • Ensure the facility is neat and free of all safety impediments.

  • Regular scheduled attendance; on-site attendance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to learn and apply the facility’s emergency procedures.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people; bilingual ability helpful.

Experience, Education and Certification(s):

  • High School Diploma/GED or pursuing

  • Previous successful experience working with children of varying ages

  • Previous successful experience working with diverse communities and leading complicated organizations.

  • Hold CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration (must have within 90 days of hire) and job related certifications
