Location: Granville, Ohio - United States Description The Data Analyst is a key role within OC Innovation network. This role is an integral member of the Corporate Front End of Innovation (FEI) team and works to shape knowledge management and innovation analytics to a range of programs under investigation by the FEI team. The data analyst is highly skilled and capable of quickly working across a range of technologies (data store and integration, innovation process management tools, information access tools, as well as data analytics) to enable the application of appropriate technologies to key business problems. The data analyst position reports to a leader of FEI and is seen as a key role within the S&T and analytic community and it is expected that the job holder will rapidly progress into larger roles in the wider organization based on the broad exposure and pace of operation they will experience in the FEI role, that will enable the job holder to quickly transfer to a range of roles within the analytic and S&T community. Responsibilities Responsibility 1: Be part of the safety standard of Owens Corning A leader in safety – identifying safety excellence and implementing across FEI. Embrace company policies and procedures for documenting hazards, near misses and incidents. Ensure all the assets are installed, safety and operational instructions completed to ensure we meet the Owens Corning operational standards. Implement a personal safety action plan. Metrics: The goal is zero. 0 RIR – injuries. Complete the analysis of task & activities in the lab / office spaces. Up to date Standard Operation Procedure and Job Hazard Analysis. Responsibility 2: Making analytics the “thing” that drives our portfolio decisions Working with the FEI leader and business teams define the analytic tools that will enable the teams to drive the optimization of their on-going performance. Develop OC innovation portfolio analysis and cutting-edge infographic reporting using advanced tools Automate innovation portfolio analytic reporting in OC operating system (e.g. BI, PowerBI etc.)Develop methodologies and solutions to integrate insights from big amount of unstructured data using AI technology i.e. NPL tools Integrate innovation portfolio analytics, vitality index and big data to bring new insights into pipeline generation. Transform large amounts of data into compelling visual stories to facilitate discussion and decision making. Constantly evaluate the impact of the analytics and reports and tune the output to constantly add value to the key stakeholders Metrics: #Analytic reports pubslished. Stakeholder feedback on the provided analysis Responsibility 3: Making the management of knowledge a competitive advantage for FEI Work with information specialists, research scientists, marketing teams and other subject matter experts to develop and translate taxonomy into advanced tools and modeling systems Develop analysis and reporting on technology trends and market information to support technology development of key stakeholder group Stay current on technologies and tools for big data integration and analysis for both structured and unstructured data Automate and simplify manual process for information retrieving, tracking, monitoring and delivery Develop algorithms to monitor and analyze specific information as required Implement API integration as desired KRS System integration with other OC tools Metrics: Taxonomy translated into tools and system Process optimization # of reports published Responsibility 4: Optimzie and manage OC technical memory system/Making OC technical memory system a treasure box for S&T community Working with S&T, IT & IP departments to indetify unmet needs around technical memory as a company Assess and identify the right tool or technoglogy to enhance current sytem to optimize the process of data storage, integration and consumption. Identify and develop technologies or algorithms to optimize KRS routine operating process, e.g. document delivery, records retention etc. Metrics: Reduced time on doc delivery, retention and storage Utilization of the memory system Resposiblity 5: Making AI a normal tool within the Owens Corning S&T environment Working with FEI leader and Data Scientist to drive AI applications within S&T community through defined use cases. Technologies Includes but not limited to: Natual language processing: Build, develop and complete test use cases with NLP models and systems required within applications ready to use, then to transfer to OC business units. Machine Learning / Deep learning: help develop prototypes of ML/DL prototypes with the guidance of data scientist Metrics: #of NLP and ML/DP evaluations completed #of projects transferred to the business units and converted to working system. #Completed project documents archived in the PRESTO system Responsibility 6: Personal development In partnership with the FEI leader define suitable career paths based on the personal abilities, aspirations and needs through the creation of growth and development plans within (and outside) of the organization. Complete identified learning and training to support development in Owens Corning. Play a key role in identifying & recruiting early data science talent to ensure that the FEI team has a strong pipeline of talent to continue its growth and impact. Metrics: #Days of personal development completed #of potential hires identified for entry into FEI Job Requirements Experience and Knowledge Requirements: An engineering degree is a pre-requisite (BS/MS Deg in Engineering, Material Science or Physical science; MS preferred). An advanced CS degree with at least 2 years of experience, also with experience on DL and feature discovery. Knowledge management experience is highly desirable. Business analytic experience are highly desirable. In depth knowledge and working experience on the various aspects of training and deployment of softwares, knowledge management tools a strong plus. Proven programming skills, in at least one of the following language: C, C++, Python, Java, Scala Technical mastery of leading analytical and visualizations tools such as Tableau, PowerBI. Experience with third-party API integration. An energetic team player, passionate about technologies, in constant learning and ideation mode with DIY skills desired. A relationship builder and an excellent communicator (verbal & written) and comfortable to interface with experts in different fields (chemist, process engineer, marketing). Natural curiosity about new technology development. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, able to verbalize complicated technology concept in a simple format.
