Description Job Title: Deli Kitchen Manager FSLA Status: Salary Immediate Supervisor: Deli Manager

Responsible for working closely with all deli associates in an effort to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed, department goals are being obtained, and associates' needs are being met. Contributes to store sales and profitability by effectively managing all aspects of the deli kitchen operations, to include but not limited to: labor, expenses, stock levels, and guest service and morale.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1) Leads, coaches, teaches, and reinforces Festival culture, guest service, and performance expectations to all deli kitchen associates

  • Trains new deli kitchen associates

  • Helps Deli Manager write and conduct performance reviews of deli kitchen associates

  • Documents violations of company policies/procedures by deli kitchen associates and conducts appropriate corrective action

  • Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers 2) Provides excellent services to all guests

  • Assists guests with finding items they are looking for on and off the sales floor

  • Takes and execute special orders and requests

  • Answers the telephone and assists guests using proper phone etiquette

  • Addresses guest concerns with prep and kitchen made items, and resolves issues when a guest is not satisfied with the service or product received 3) Ensures all Kitchen and Department standards are being met in the Deli Kitchen

  • Makes decisions on production levels by studying weekly movement report (items sold)

  • Makes sure temperatures are being taken on hot bar and salad bar

  • Recipe control

  • Be sure associates are measuring correctly

  • Makes sure recipes are being followed step by step

  • Watches dates and freshness of every product

  • Shrinks the items that are outdated.

  • Product must be dated and initialed in the cooler/freezer

  • Product presentation

  • Cleanliness of kitchen

  • All areas must be cleaned and sanitized

  • Veggies must be rinsed

  • Proper glove use when using a knife with all associates

  • Dishes are clean and organized

  • Keep cooler and freezers clean and organized

  • Must be food safe certified

  • Blast chiller kept cleaned and cooling logs kept up to date

  • Responsible for ordering all food from vendors and keeping product levels under control, have par levels set for all items on order guides

  • Assists in inventory process 4) Assists all department associates with daily responsibilities while leading by example 5) Contributes to overall cleanliness of the department by picking up, organizing, and cleaning work areas, shelving, and sales floor as needed 6) Required to maintain food safety logs 7) Ensures all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% at 10 am and 5 pm

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability to perform the essential functions.

  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel

  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment

  • Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies

  • Must posses the ability to apply on-the job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises. Also requires proper training and knowledge of the following equipment/procedures: slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, baler, mixer, grinder, oven, and sham

  • Knowledge of the retail food business, thorough knowledge of perishable department operations, and must be able to make timely and effective decisions

  • Must have been a Kitchen Lead or Production Lead for a minimum of 6 months


  • Stand in one spot for a long period of time, bend stoop, and kneel regularly

  • Full range of upper body motion

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis

  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures


  • The Deli Kitchen Manager is a full time salary position scheduled 40 hours per week

  • The shift to be worked will be 7am-3pm or 8am-4pm, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays
