    Education / Licensure / Certification

EDUCATION: Required: Bachelors - Pharmacy Preferred: Doctorate - Pharmacy Additional Information: Preferred: PharmD degree, MHA, MS Pharmacy or Pharmacy Administration, MBA, or other advanced degree in pharmacy or healthcare leadership. PGY1 and PGY2 ASHP accredited pharmacy residencies.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: Required: BLS (CPR) - AHA Health Care Provider BLS RPH - Registered Pharmacist Additional information on required licensure/certification/registry/listings: Current active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain North Carolina pharmacy license within two (2) months of hire.


EXPERIENCE: Required: 2 Years Hospital or Specialty Pharmacy Preferred: 1 - 3 Years Supervisory Experience (see below) Additional Information: Preferred: 1-3 years supervisory experience, experience in specialty pharmacy, manufacturer contracting, business/budget planning, reimbursement, health informatics, mail-order pharmacy, Lean healthcare.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Required: Knowledge and skills must be developed and maintained as they relate to the following: Specialty pharmacy Manufacturer contracting Business/budget planning Reimbursement Health informatics Mail-order pharmacy Lean healthcare Ability to lift 30-pound boxes to counter height five times per shift. Ability to squat, stoop, and stretch to reach files. Ability to learn automated computer software/hardware. Ability to communicate routinely via telephone and other automated devices. Ability to delegate work activities and supervise technicians, monitor and follow-up for completion of work-related assignments. Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: This position is accountable for leading the implementation and ongoing maintenance of an interdisciplinary and multidepartment specialty pharmacy program, including assuring progressive ambulatory and specialty pharmacy services are developed and sustained to offer unsurpassed health care experiences to our patients, healthcare providers, and community.

MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES: SERVICE: a. Collaborate with service care providers and patients to establish and deploy health system wide specialty pharmacy services. b. Develop and manage key specialty pharmacy services, including but not limited to a) embedded clinical pharmacists and clinical pharmacy practitioners (CPP) and other clinical/support staff; b) distribution support including call center/prior authorization; c) accreditation, quality, and performance improvement; and d) market analysis, business intelligence, and data analytics. c. Meet regulatory, national, and best-practice standards within responsibility areas through continuous monitoring and improvement. d. Work with health plans, other insurers, pharmacy benefit managers, employer groups, government, and other third-party programs to coordinate specialty pharmacy and associated disease management services 20 %

REGULATORY AND QUALITY: a. Review, revise, and coordinate the inclusion of regulations of the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory bodies, as well as professional standards, into patient service procedures. b. Develop, implement, and report on quality, safety, financial, and customer service measures within the assigned areas of responsibility. 15 %

FINANCIAL: Assist the director of pharmacy in planning, budgeting, and justifying capital equipment, operating, and human resources requirements to accomplish goals within responsibility areas. 15 %

TECHNOLOGY: Assist with the selection and implementation of technology needed to sustain specialty pharmacy clinical operations. 10 %

MARKETING AND RELATIONSHIPS: a. Build ongoing marketing and provider relations initiatives with regional payors and other targeted health plans to create awareness of Cone Health specialty pharmacy as the preferred supply channel for benefits investigation, patient support services, and pharmacy distribution. b. Build and execute focused marketing initiatives to help patients, physicians, employer groups, etc., to recognize and easily utilize the services of Cone Health specialty pharmacy. c. Participate in professional associations and actively contribute to the literature through publications and presentations. 10 %

EDUCATION: Serve as a mentor, preceptor, and/or residency program director (if applicable) for pharmacy interns, students, and residents. a. Where applicable, arrange, coordinate, and conduct advanced clinical clerkships and internships for college of pharmacy students, including assignment of clinical staff pharmacists to preceptor roles. b. Where applicable, maintain residency program in accordance with ASHP accreditation standards. c. Prepare and present information on drug therapy and clinical pharmacy programs to pharmacy staff, nursing staff, house staff (physician interns and residents), medical staff, administrative council, hospital committees, and others. 10 %
