The Senior Web Developer is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, maintaining, monitoring, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge

of best practices and has responsibility for quality assurance and standards. Recognized as an individual contributor and conducts highly complex and important work critical to the organization.



  • Highly proficient in development, design and analysis

  • Designs, develops, and implements solution architecture for enterprise-class products related to .Net & web services, including front-end development, server-side development and the core database

  • Provides operational and maintenance support for existing applications

  • Performs analysis and requirements gathering without direct supervision

  • Prepares technical specifications and test plans for programs to be written; designed, coded, tested, debugged, and documented

  • Delivers high-quality solutions on-time

  • Ensures new application is successfully integrated

  • Provides technical consultation and development support for existing and new systems development

  • Designs enhancements and upgrades to systems and ensures systems meet functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications regarding application software

  • Has overall responsibility for quality assurance, standards, checking processes

  • Responsible for, and has knowledge of system performance and user experience

  • Develops time estimates for project deliverables

  • Manages risks, issues and concerns

  • Solicits internal customer feedback and takes appropriate action


  • Collaborates with the development team on application architecture

  • Proactively identifies opportunities for business improvements through application development

  • With the development team identifies technical, human resource and business process implications of future product offerings and enhancements and develops skills in these new technologies

  • Envisions new technical capabilities and common applications components


  • Acts as consultant for internal business customers

  • Works closely with Systems Architect and IT team on quality assurance, program logic, and data processing

  • Collaborates with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications

  • Ensures users are provided professional, courteous and timely communication, support and service

  • Keeps abreast of emerging technology and how it could be leveraged at Brownells


  • Acts as gatekeeper for code change management and ensures code changes are maintained in code repository

  • Maintains status of project in project tracking system and/or provides timely communication to all stakeholders

  • Creates and maintains application documentation


Education, Knowledge and Experience

  • BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, a related discipline or equivalent

  • 8+ years of experience with web development

  • Experience with automated software and system management tools

  • Experience with core software applications, SVN/GIT, Visual Studio, and Microsoft SQL Server

  • Technically fluent in object oriented programming languages, including .NET (C# preferred), SQL, Web technologies

  • Good project management skills and/or experience with project-based work structures, application life management etc.

  • Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems.

  • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies

  • Business acumen previous experience with online shopping development/E-commerce is a plus
