Regulatory Affairs Manager (Job Number: 010531W-01)



The Regulatory Affairs Manager leads regulatory approvals and manages compliance for the diverse DuPont Nutrition and Health (N&H) portfolio in food ingredients, related food application and dietary supplements in Vietnam. The Regulatory Affairs Manager plays a key role to build the N&H presence and reputation amongst authorities, experts and key opinion leaders to help position N&H as an industry expert in food standards and regulations. The role works in collaboration with Regional Regulatory team, Global Coordinators, Sales and Application of Food Ingredients (SAFI), Marketing and Communication teams, and interfaces with the Corporate Product Stewardship and Regulatory, Corporate Communication and Legal functions. This position reports to the Regional Director, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs, Asia Pacific.


· Develop strategy and networks to enable regulatory solutions to support both product and technology innovation delivery.

· Provide advice and assessment to support new product and new technology development.

· Develop strategy and networks to enable regulatory solutions to support both product and technology innovation delivery.

· Champion advocacy and compliance activities across the DuPont N&H portfolio.

· Interpret and communicate food standards and regulations to internal business partners, including opportunities and risks.

· Approve marketing materials.


RegulatoryStrategy and Framework:

  • Workcollaboratively with regulatory lead of food ingredients ASEAN and dietarysupplement lead Asia Pacific to provide input into the development ofregulatory strategy to ensure the DuPont N&H businesses operating in Vietnamhas timely approvals.

  • Developand implement training and enhancement of policies and standards withinthe N&H regulatory framework to update internal business partners onVietnam food standards and regulations.

  • Monitorinternational best practice, including global benchmarking of theregulatory environment and regulatory affairs functions.

  • Createeffective communication channels for the regulatory strategy and frameworkacross the N&H businesses.

  • Monitorand advocate Codex position in Vietnam is consistent with business needsbased on science and global position.

RegulatoryInnovation Strategy and Execution:

  • Ensureregulatory compliance for all innovation activity in N&H and advise onregulatory options and solutions.

  • Utilisestrategic advocacy to influence regulators as product and technologyinnovation requires.


  • Proactivelyengage with internal business partners, external customers, industrybodies, key opinion leaders, policy makers and regulatory and scientificaffairs functions globally.

  • Partnerwith Product Leads and Global Regulatory Coordinators in each BusinessUnit to support product innovation and market access.

  • Coordinatewith Corporate Products Stewardship and Regulatory and related governmentand legal affairs functions to ensure a consistent corporate messageexternally.

RegulatoryInformation Services:

  • InformSales and Business Leads on developments and opportunities or threats tomonthly cross-functional business meetings.

  • Ensurean overview of trends and developments in food supplement is maintained,with briefings provided to Dietary Supplements business meetings on developingissues and opportunities.

Leadershipand Teamwork:

  • Contribute to the building ofcapability of the regional regulatory team to deliver an engaged, highperforming team motivated to protect the N&H credibility.

  • Exercise the diplomacy and maturity requiredto operate in a global matrix organisation.



  • MS in life sciences or related field and 8+years’ experience in food science and technology, nutrition, biochemistry,regulatory affairs in the food industry or PhD with 5+ years relevantexperience including industry experience. Experience working with diversecultures is a plus.

  • Makes sound commercialdecisions based on a thorough understanding of the global business.

  • Understands commercialdrivers and is comfortable in planning and managing resources withinbudget constraints (finding cost effective solutions).

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements to gainapproval in Vietnam for food ingredients and dietary supplements.

  • General knowledge of scientific methods inR&D and Quality.

  • Proven track record of successful submissions andinfluence of regulations/regulators in food ingredients and dietarysupplements.

  • Successfully impacted product introduction andproduct compliance by providing regulatory guidance and/or successfullyinfluenced decisions at plants to implement change.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and communicaterecommendations on options to solve business problems clearly.

  • Honesty in defining gaps and failures, and findsolutions to improve and/or find solutions to achieve business goals. Successfullyanalysis problems that require an in-depth understanding of theorganization is a plus.

  • Demonstrate strong influence on the success offuture products and processes, and present influence to overall businessinterest (can be in non-technical/scientific manner).

  • Consistent proactive and problem solving mindsetputting internal and external customer’s priorities at the core. Having trackrecord of being a strong team player is a must.

  • Excellent skills in influencing and supportingothers as a team.

  • Excellent planning, organizational andcommunication skills.

  • Ability to function in multidisciplinary andvirtual environment.

  • Flexibility to accommodate occasional after hourswork as global needs require.

  • Excellent communication skills in English(verbally, in writing, and in presentations) and competency in Vietnamese.Working knowledge of another Asian language is a plus.

  • Competency in computer/software tools needed forjob.
