More information about Alexion can be found at: Summary Provide daily care, health monitoring, breeding support, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, production rooms and enclosures for experimental and production egg layer hens and males following written Standard Operating procedures (SOPs).Principal Responsibilities• Sanitize egg layer rooms, enclosures, equipment, corridors and support areas using appropriate techniques to promote egg layer health and welfare and to comply with regulations and company policies. Provide nutrition for egg layers by supplying feed and water• Organize and maintain egg layer enclosures, supplies and equipment• Assess egg layer health status by gathering and documenting data and observing animals. Administer treatments and euthanize egg layers according to written procedures. Maintain records as defined in SOPs • Participate in and/or lead more complicated procedures including artificial insemination, identification of hens and males after hatching, setup and management of egg hatches, management of hen production groups and documenting production room inventories• Collect eggs and record related data per SOP • Monitor machinery and environment by collecting, documenting and comparing data against established standards. Troubleshoot problems as necessary, report and refer issues requiring outside service to the Facility Director. Perform routine and non-routine maintenance and ensure proper operation of equipment and machinery• Handle and restrain egg layers according to specified procedures and techniques to allow for layer care and research to be performed in a safe and humane manner• Provide weekend and /or holiday egg layer care as needed• Cross-train in all areas of the Facility and provide needed support on an as-needed basis• Perform job duties in compliance with Company policies and procedures• Package waste materials sent out for incineration according to specified procedures• Receive and properly process incoming shipments of supplies and materials• Compile production data, track and maintain inventory, and order supplies.• Coordinate and oversee staff in absence of the Supervisor.• Coordinate transfers of eggs to Egg White Harvest. • Provide input and recommendations for improving production operations and SOPs• Review production documents• Assists in training PPU technicians on higher level procedures and training of new employees.• Leads completion of special projects as needed<>Qualifications• Must be able to work within and adapt to complex electronic systems such as SAP and Trackwise • Must be able to read, write and converse in English • Must have good working knowledge of MS Excel and Word• Ability to work in an intense, fast-paced work environment• Ability to function, with guidance, in a rapidly changing environment while balancing multiple priorities simultaneously• Ability to work independently and as part of a team• 5-8 years’ experience in a cGMP biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment• cGMP, biopharmaceutical experience preferredEducation • High School Diploma, BS preferred • BA/BS in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience preferred.Competencies• Cultivates Innovation• Being Resilient• Learning and Self-Development• Decision Quality• Accountability• CollaborationAs a leading employer in our industry, Alexion is proud to offer a highly competitive package of base and incentive compensation as well as a comprehensive benefits program designed to support the health, wellness and financial security of our employees and their families.
