Job Title: Utility Worker

FLSA Status: Hourly

Reports To: Lead Meat Cutter/Meat Manager

Responsible for working closely with all Meat associates and follow company procedures, department goals are being ensuring that all company policies are being followed and the department goals are being obtained, and customers’ needs are being met. Contributes to department sales and profitability by effectively assisting in aspects of the Meat department operations, to include by not limited to: product quality, labor, expenses, stock levels, customer service, and team morale.


1) Provide customer service to guests

  • Assists guests with finding items they are looking for
  • Takes orders and other special requests
  • Packages, wraps, and prices all items to company standards
  • Answers the telephone and assists callers using proper phone etiquette

2) Wrapping products

  • Reduces shrink by using the appropriate packaging standards
  • Ensures accurate pricing by placing the corresponding price and ingredient labels on each package

3) Fills, rotates, and removes products from the sales floor

  • Identifies which products are at an unacceptable stock level and replenishes them with available supply
  • Maintains freshness by filling newer products to the back/bottom of the display and ensuring that closer dated products are sold first, as well as removing products that are outdated, or otherwise unacceptable to make available for sale

4) Maintains adequate level of supplies by replenishing packaging and other items as needed

5) Contributes to overall cleanliness of the department by picking up, organizing, and cleaning work areas, shelving, and sales floor as needed

6) Assist all other associates in the Meat department as necessary

7) Required to maintain food safety logs

8) Ensure all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm

The Utility Worker is an hourly position that may be part-time (less than 28 hours per week) or full time (38-40 hours per week). The work schedule may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays within the individual's availability
