Group Description

The Office of Regulatory Affairs is responsible for ensuring the firm has a comprehensive regulatory strategy. This includes engaging in balanced advocacy with regulators and policymakers, understanding and providing thought leadership on how policies affect the firm’s clients and economic growth overall, and governing internal coordination among regions and lines of business on global regulatory reform issues.

The office’s enterprise-wide approach includes close partnership with Executive Management, Government Relations and Public Policy, Cybersecurity, Investor Relations, Technology, Corporate Financial Analysis, Legal, Compliance, Oversight & Control and Risk teams. This ensures that we are engaged with lawmakers and regulators around the globe, and that we participate in important dialogues as policies, laws and regulations are formed.

The Office of Regulatory Affairs is housed within the Office of the Chief Operating Officer of the firm.

Position Summary

This position provides an excellent opportunity to be involved with virtually all aspects of the regulatory reform process while also learning the complexities of how the Firm manages regulatory policy development and advocacy across all lines of business and regions.

The Regulatory Policy Intern will partner with the Hong Kong based Regulatory Affairs team on a wide variety of projects with components of strategy, project management, data gathering/analysis, research, and management reporting.

Responsibilities:

Project Support:

  • Support senior leadership in executing JPMC's regulatory strategy

  • Assist team members on a wide variety of critical regulatory analysis projects

  • Assigned internship-long project that candidates will be expected to scope, develop supporting materials and present to team leadership and relevant business partners

Management Reporting:

  • Update and improve “Facebook” document

  • Assist with internal reports on emerging policy issues/risks

Research and Analysis:

  • Perform ad hoc research/quantitative projects in support of ongoing advocacy priorities (including capital, liquidity, data use, markets and FinTech policy)

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Fresh graduates preferably from Law Faculty

  • Strong interpersonal leadership and communication skills (both oral and written)

  • Outstanding ability to analyze problems, identify key dimensions of a problem and propose solution

  • Results-orientation – takes initiative to identify areas to add value and executes quickly and accurately

  • Judgment and professional maturity to handle sensitive information and work with senior management

  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail, ability to prioritize issues and manage competing tasks

  • Analytical and data management skills

  • A track record demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, setting and achieving challenging goals, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership

  • Demonstrated interest in regulatory policy issues affecting the financial services industry

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
