Dresser-Rand Director Repair Operations in Houston, Texas
This position reports to VP Services USA Area and is responsible for providing leadership and vision to achieve Safety, Quality, Lean, On Time Delivery and Compliance goals for the repair business as well as to support the AOP and LRP growth objectives. Focus areas:
Establish and disseminate standard repair processes, work instructions, repair operational best practices and associated metrics;
Develop and implement quality system and measurements;
Reduce cost by developing a flexible capacity repair model to improve competitiveness
Develop new repair capabilities and expertise
Improve quality and cycle time’s while reducing cost throughout the repair organization
Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred):
BS in Engineering or related field
Minimum of 10 years of related experience
Developing good working relationships with others and through team work.
Maintaining excellent working relationship with internal and external contacts.
Analyzing business results and available data, identifying opportunities and developing proactive action plans.
Successfully managing change in a new and growing organization
Travel required - 30 - 40 % in general
- Masters Engineering or related field
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Work with Regions to drive improvement in health and safety to achieve company targets
Work with Operations to develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions (SWI), repair and engineering standards for rotating and reciprocating equipment.
Standardize repair proposal development and cost make up tools (Standard Price Configurator). Enforce costing methodology through regular audits and report.
Develop and implement quality control system. Monitor, audit quality issues, and implement corrective actions. Ownership of center ISO quality process and corrective action procedures. Continue Formula 1 vision.
Develop, implement and maintain internal repair certification program for all service centers. Oversee certification assignments subject to complexity and capability.
Collaborate with Regions to establish Repair Centers in support of long term objectives.
Wherever possible work with the HR Group to standardize job descriptions and compensation criteria. This standardization will allow for the ease of transfer of talent between regions.
Work with Training Organization to develop internal training program, material and certification.
Implement, track and report lean initiatives / cost savings using “Wholecost” measurement. Work with regions to assign annual saving targets.
Implement and monitor “Strategic Measures” to measure / track repair business performance
Support repair growth initiatives thru participation and leading the R&D process for repair development/ new repair offerings for both D-R and Applied Technology.
Accountable to define/launch repair strategy to support short term and long term growth objectives, establish goals/measurements and corrective actions.
Ownership and participation in the Service Center AOP budgeting process.
Consolidate and prioritize all service center capital requirements.
Collaborate closely with Sales and Field Service to develop the successful strategies to bundle all D-R capabilities.
