We are a device manufacturing and design company in Irvine and need a Production Roving Inspector for our Operations Department.

You will perform roving inspections through operations in machine ship and assembly. Supports incoming and in-process inspections to ensure purchased and manufactured components meet quality specifications and technical requirements. Provide technical assistance & recommendations on all inspect & measurement systems.

What You Will Be Doing

Test and inspect assemblies, finished goods and manufactured machine shop components. Supports receiving inspection of sub-process manufactured components and purchased components per drawing and control plan requirements.

Ensure inspection is performed with the proper and calibrated gages and equipment.

Take accurate measurements utilizing precision devices such as Vision Systems, CMM, micrometers, venires dial calipers, hardness & surface testers and pre-set gauges.

Prepare documentation for device history records of Assembly, Machine Shop and Inspection parts history files.

Support Quality and Operations in creation/maintenance of Inspection Control Plans.

Ensure Parts/ materials are properly identified and segregated.

Identify, segregate and process discrepant materials per procedure.

Support NCM processes.

Familiarity with electrostatic discharge (ESD) devices and best practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need for this Position

Highly proficient level regarding blueprint reading and high precision tolerance.

Must be familiar with GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerance).

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Knowledge of PC skills (Word, Excel and Access) and manufacturing data systems desired.

Ability to operate a CMM.

Ability to walk

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma required. Technical training and certification preferred. Extensive experience using measuring devices and other tools used in inspection of high precision components required. Five years experience in Quality Assurance / Control with on-the-job training.

INTERPERSONAL AND COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS:

Position requires contact primarily within the operations group on routine matters (QA,QC, Machine Shop, Assembly, Materials). Contact outside the department within the company is minimal and referred to department management when necessary.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive amount of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must possess ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and Quality System Manual. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Assignments are both task oriented and objective oriented. Follows established procedures for routine work and receives specific instruction for non-routine work.

MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS:

Uses critical thinking skills to create original documents, reports and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral or schedule form; able to make set goals based on available information and to plan work in order to meet deadlines; able to be resourceful at problem solving and formulates appropriate responses to requests for services and information from internal or external customers; able to project likely future occurrences based on current or historic data.

Ability to perform visual/mechanical inspections (good near sited vision 1-2ft under typical production lit environment). Ability to stand/walk up to 85% of typical 8 -12 hour/day work schedule. Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
