The Manager, Market Research is responsible for secondary marketing research and business analytics activities for specialty business units, such as Medical Aesthetics. They also provide robust sales data analysis and reporting to the marketing organization, finance, senior and executive management. This role provides product forecasts and models for business and strategic planning; Works closely with the in-line marketing teams and finance.
Main Areas of Responsibilities
Provide strategic and tactical analytical support and recommendations to the product teams through the analysis and interpretation of primary and secondary market research data as well as internal data sets. Analyses include product and market opportunities, market sizing, competitive landscape, product positioning and messaging and other analyses as required.
Develop well designed, critically analyzed and efficiently summarized research findings and analyses which provide actionable conclusions and recommendations.
Recommend ideal research approach/data needs to address business questions.
Proactively discover new business insights and leading indicators to support business teams.
Act as a liaison to data vendors for contract negotiations, project designs, and any data related issues.
Manage secondary marketing research and business analytics activities and reporting for assigned therapeutic area.
Provide analytical Ad Hoc support - Support marketing and sales efforts quantitatively, through data mining, analysis, and chart preparation to reveal both product and market trends and by answering key business questions.
Develop and maintain forecast models for products/therapeutic areas.
Support marketing strategic planning process by evaluating market conditions, understanding competitive landscape, identifying growth opportunities, and assisting in the development of tactical and strategic plans to grow the business.
Develop and maintain business rules for use of data sets from both third party data vendors and internal data sources and analytics teams. This includes maintenance of standardized market and product definitions for promoted products.
The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:
5 + years of appropriate business experience of which at least two years is preferably in a medical or consumer marketing research or business analytics function
Consultative skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and decision makers
Strong analytical skills as they apply to marketing research and business analytics
Ability to communicate analyses and findings and influence action
Advanced Excel, Access and PPT skills required
Experience using business insights tools such as Business Objects, SAS, Tableau, COGNOS
The below skills are attributes that may not be mandatory, but are definitely desired in the ideal candidate.
Variety of experience in various health care markets (medical, device and / or consumer)
Knowledge of the sales and marketing function with ability to anticipate needs, make recommendations and respond to ad hoc requests quickly and appropriately
Experience using consumer products oriented on secondary market research audits
Experience with medical claims analysis through SAS or SQL
Four-year degree in a business or scientific / technical discipline
Graduate degree in Business preferred.
