Iselin, NJProvident Bank, a multi-billion dollar NJ bank, is seeking an experienced commercial lender with exceptional credit skills. Candidates should have at least 15 years experience in bank lending and credit, preferrably in C&I or business banking. This opportunity is located in Iselin, NJ within walking distance of the Metro Park train station.POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for all aspects of credit risk management and maintaining the credit quality of the Bank's portfolio to minimize losses. This position will report directly to the Chief Lending Officer and will be responsible for assisting the CLO with a multitude of duties related to the credit risk function as well as the asset quality of the Bank. The position will mostly interact with the C+I Lending Departments as well as some Commercial Real Estate credits. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIESIs responsible for credit quality including loan delinquencies, maturities, and monitoring of criticized/classified loans in conjunction with the Chief Lending Officer to be consistent with the Bank's vision.Enforces loan policies and procedures to mitigate risk to the Bank and provides recommendations to changes in loan policies.Provides counsel to sales and credit teams on underwriting and loan structure matters. Assists in the preparation and review of term sheets.Review, approve, decline or recommend to appropriate higher authority, credit applications for new originations, renewals or modification of existing loans.Reviews and analyzes credits in lieu of Credit Committee approval to ensure that sound underwriting standards are met and greater than normal risk are not accepted.Continuously monitors the credit quality of loans, ensure annual reviews are well documented and risk ratings are accurate, identify deteriorating credits and take appropriate action to mitigate risk.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNoneSKILLS AND TRAININGStrong working knowledge of credit and financial analysis and related legal documents.Strong administrative, communication/interpersonal and negotiation skills.Ability to keep abreast of economic trends and developments affecting the organization including environmental, legal, governmental and technological concerns.Ability to partner across business lines and work with the Lending and Underwriting teams.EDUCATIONBachelor's degree required. Master's Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred. Formal bank credit training strongly desired.WORK EXPERIENCE15+ years in all aspects of bank lending and management. Previous Credit or Lending experience in either Middle Market Lending or Business Banking Lending required. Strong financial, analytical and underwriting skills as well as extensive experience and knowledge of Commercial Real Estate loans.
