Department Overview:

The Employee Health (EH) dept is charged with ensuring a safe work environment by completing an initial health assessment of all applicants after a job offer is made, including a medical history review, TB screening, immunization update and drug screening. The EH dept tracks ill and/or injured employees and make appropriate refferals. Statistical reports are maintained and presented to various committees to remain in compliance with regulatory agencies. EH maintains an electronic medical file on all employees.

Description of the Intern Project:

  • Review Workers Comp accident reports and follow up to ensure completed correctly, finding trends, completes graph and chart to show trends and participation in the safety committee, complete and ensure posting of OSHA summaries at the end of the year.

  • E-Brooks Employee Health page - update page

  • Be a Champion for the EH Dept during Occupational Health Week (April) by managing a booth with Occupational Health Information, creating puzzles, games, drawing to raise awareness of work place safety, Champion and campaign compliance to Flu vaccination (September and October)

  • Update all electronic EH documents in the EH software program.

  • Attend Off site visits with the EH nurse and track compliance for participants.

Clerical:

  • Communicating with employees/managers regarding compliance via phone, email and/or regular mail.

  • Updating and entering data from new hire charts and scanning documents in EH software.

  • Entering TB test results and immunizations to update compliance report.

  • Reviewing accident reports and scan into EH medical files.

  • Filing, faxing, mailing, and making labels, as necessary.

  • Locating companies to send off release forms for requested documents.

  • Updating/revising Employee Health electronic forms as needed.

  • Ensuring EH is stocked with necessary office, medical and pharmaceutical supplies and maintain a "PAR" level.

  • Assisting with Fit Test class (once a month during New Employee Orientation)

  • Complete and mail/fax/scan annual OSHA reports for all sites (January-February only)

  • Assist with Flu season stats, reports, campaign posters, etc (October- December only)

Intern hours to be determined between student and Manager.
