Position Description

The Analyst primarily supports the General Medicine business at Allergan plc, under the guidance of the Executive Director Finance, General Medicine. The Analyst will also work closely with the Therapeutic Area finance heads in managing the segment P&L; sales, COGS, OPEX and Direct Marketing Expenses (DME).

The Analyst will participate in the quarterly forecast and annual budget process as well as the quarterly close process. The role includes monthly and quarterly accounting responsibilities to ensure financials are accurate with appropriate controls in place.

This role is located in Jersey City, NJ sitting with the Commercial Finance team with close proximity to the General Medicine Sales & Marketing teams. This role will require coordination with various functions throughout the company. The employee must conduct their work activities in compliance with all internal control requirements and applicable regulatory requirements.

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage DME forecast process with Marketing via BPC system. Analyze and prepare management reports on DME spend; budgets, forecasts and actuals. Support quarterly DME accruals process working closely with product management teams.

  • Facilitate the sales forecast collection process in BPC. This involves supporting individual products teams during the forecast process.

  • Responsible for revenue and gross margin related management reporting (e.g.ELT update slides, Corporate LE submissions, etc) and fulfilling relevant requests from other functions (e.g. Tax, legal, Operations, Demand Planning, etc.)

  • Responsible for maintaining and issuing the quarterly daily sales (DSR) report for General Medicine. This responsibility includes validation of sales data and master data in SAP.

  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis as needed


  • At least 2 years work experience in a financial or accounting related environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Experience applying accounting and finance principles, including cost/benefit and ROI analyses

  • Strong analytical and computer skills, including spreadsheets, modeling, and financial systems to support the accounting/finance functions.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • SAP and Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) experience highly desirable


  • Bachelor’s degree required, with emphasis in finance or accounting

  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
