The selected individual will working in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (BIETC) in Bangalore, India as a Software Development Engineer. This individual will be a part of the Digital Aviation team working on SCAP (Standard Computerized Aircraft Performance) Module development utilized in the JRA (Jeppesen Runway Analysis) and potentially other Digital Aviation products that caters to the Boeing customers globally. JRA provides takeoff and landing performance calculations that are generated using the world’s most comprehensive airport, runway and obstacle databases in conjunction with aircraft performance data from manufacturers. The result is optimized payloads and the confidence that the aircraft operation complies with all regulatory requirements for engine-out procedures. SCAP Modules are essentially a representation of the AFM (Aircraft Flight Manual). The AFM contains charts and/or graphs which are used to calculate aircraft performance during take-off and landing phases of flight. The scope of work would include, but not limited to

  • The requirements gathering for the creation of SCAP modules, development and preliminary testing.

  • Highly professional software engineer and work collaboratively with an international team.

  • Responsible to provide support to development of internal competency and skilled resources for creating a talented flight optimization technology development team in Boeing India.

  • Develops and maintains technical relationships / partnerships on as needed basis with customers, suppliers, peers, partners and team members to execute on projects.

  • Provides periodic updates to Boeing management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.

  • Support initiatives of Boeing India organization related to engineering excellence, employee development, mentoring, customer engagement etc…

    Skills required :

  • Proficient programmer in FORTRAN or BASIC

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to discuss

    o Relationship between ASD, AGD, V1, and weight

    o Field Length, Obstacle, Tire Speed, Brake Energy, Approach Climb, Landing Climb, and Landing Field Length Limit Weights

    o Improved Climb Technique

    o Reduced Thrust Takeoff

  • Familiarity with the takeoff and landing problem (14CFR25, 14CFR91, 14CFR121, 14CFR135, IATA SCAP Standard)

  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Access and MS DOS command line operations

  • An understanding of aircraft performance is critical

  • Familiarity with digitization software is desirable

  • Understand Airplane Certification and Flight Regulation

  • Familiarity with Software Configuration Management (Perforce or other), requirements management, and testing processes

  • Ability to interpret Transport Class Airplane or Performance Flight Manuals

  • FAA license/experience, FE, ATP, or Dispatcher, Private Pilot, Military FE or Pilot would be desirable

  • Exposure to SAFe and Agile software processes

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

  • Passion for creating extraordinary software applications

  • Collaborate effectively with a team of engineers

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Mathematics, or Engineering is required and a Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates with Aeronautical engineering related application development background will be preferred. 5 years’ experience in engineering software application development
