Robert Half Office Team Disability Claims Administrator in Kitchener, Ontario

Our client in Kitchener has an immediate need in their Group Disability Office. They are seeking an action-oriented individual with strong team building, relationship management, decision making and problem solving skills to join them on a year long term as a Disability Claims Administrator. In this role, you will be responsible for managing short term disability claims from intake to payment. The key requirement is a strong commitment to learning and understanding the product and the business, as well as learning and understanding the claims management processes. Your strong communication skills will help you succeed as you develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Key duties: resolve short term disability claims, communicate by email and telephone with various stakeholders including plan members and plan sponsors, address escalated client concerns, and develop case management plans to drive appropriate claims outcomes. You will need to:

  • Accurately setting up new short term disability claims. This function will include contractual interpretation and systems entry;

  • Confidently formulating and rationalizing decisions on claims using contractual, medical, functional, and vocational analysis;

  • Responding in a timely fashion to very high volumes of written (letter, email) and verbal (primarily telephone) communication with a very wide range of internal and external stakeholders (clients, providers within the medical community, etc.);

  • Maintaining productive relationships with internal team members to maintain service level targets;

  • Constantly prioritizing and reprioritizing conflicting demands with tight turn-around times.
